At 10:00, we met at the first Liepāja's anthem character "Laivenieks" to get to know each other and learn the first task of the competition. The first question each was asked by the competition organiser Inese was: “What colour are you today and why?”

We recorded some examples we heard from contestants:
• Andis felt yellow because he sees himself as sunshine.
• Elīna S. felt green because she likes everything green.
• Madara felt yellow too, as she loves sunflowers and their seeds too, especially when toasted.
• Elīna K. felt white because she wore a white hat and has a white cat at home herself, which is her favourite.
• Victoria felt green too, because it's her favourite colour and she loves cucumber and pickles a lot.

The first task for young people was to count how many characters of the Liepāja anthem they encountered until the next checkpoint – the “mother of wind” monument. There, everyone could win candy prizes for naming the characters in the anthem. On top of that, each had to name the 3 places each likes best in Liepāja, and the most popular were the beach, sea and their own homes.

The next checkpoint was the swan pond where each had to draw a leaflet and reproduce an animal depicted on a picture, such as a giraffe, chicken, hare, lion, pig, bear, etc. The other participants, meanwhile, mentioned what animal it was. Those who remembered correctly received a candy at the prize.

We went on to the next checkpoint, the fountain outside Daugava Stadium. Here we focused on creative pursuits. Each could opt for a colourful paper butterfly, decorate it with bright stickers and stick a wooden stick to it to create a bright ornament, which they then bring home.

We ended up going to the beach cafe Red Sun Buffet, where we sipped coffee, tea and ate a delicious piece of chocolate cake. We would like to thank the cafe's management and staff for their support, kind service and lovely atmosphere!

We organized this orientation competition as part of the “Draugs, nāc draudzēsimies!” activity.
