Workshops on emotional intelligence and universal design have ended.

It is a pleasure to see the demand grow for new knowledge of universal design principles and emotional intelligence.

This year, employees of Liepāja's social service branch of VSCA Kurzeme, students of Liepaja University, as well as other interested persons – employees of companies and institutions.

 

During the seminar, participants had the opportunity to strengthen their knowledge of:

1. the essence of emotional intelligence,
2. the concept of disability,
3. a medical and social model of thinking for persons with functional disorders,
5. stereotypes of society,
6. prejudice management of persons with disabilities,
7. support for successful adaptation and integration of family and other peers into society,
8. the importance of intelligent language,
9. successful communication between employees of the institution/enterprise and people with disabilities,
10. successful communication with different target groups of people with disabilities;
11. the concept of universal design and its meaning,
12. availability of the environment.
Seminar participants had the opportunity to practically operate and feel themselves in the “shoes” of a blind person. They had the opportunity to understand what it's like to move around with your white cane, they put on simulation glasses for different eye diseases so you can understand how people, who have different eye conditions feel - cataract, glaucoma, damage to the vitreous body, retinal detachment, side vision, tunnel vision, diabetes.
