We encourage you to engage in social inclusion project activities
From February till December of this year, the Liepaja society for the blind implements the social inclusion project financed by the city of Liepaja "Katru dienu darīsim to, kas labs un noderīgs cilvēkiem" (No. 52/2.8.5) in order to promote sustainable development of knowledge, skills and social skills, integration into society, reducing social inequalities, creating opportunities for them to also participate in the labour market. Within the framework of the project, various activities will be organised, assistance will be provided to solve various everyday issues, the public will be educated and informed about the needs of people with disabilities and universal design.
Within the framework of the project, a sustainable operation will be ensured for the Liepaja's society for the blind day Centre, in which everyone can receive answers to the current questions, regarding social rehabilitation, housing, transport, co-habitation, drawing up of documents, etc. As well as regular trips to the social rehabilitation centre in the rural environment "Dvēseles veldzes dārzs", in Ziemupe, will be organised to motivate people with disabilities and seniors to be active and use the services provided by the social rehabilitation centre.
The "Dzīves skola" social inclusion course will also continue to promote networking, motivation and daring to engage in improving the quality of their lives. As far as possible, taking into account the epidemiological situation in the country and taking into account the restrictions related to COVID-19, we intend to organise a number of excursions, visits to various institutions and organisations in Liepāja. Let's get to know Liepāja on foot and invite guests to work in master classes. The association will continue the "Let's Help one another" promotion launched last year, as part of which, help to meet basic needs will be provided. In cooperation with charity organisations and social assistance organisations, donations such as furniture, household appliances, clothing, etc. will be provided and, if necessary, delivered to the homes of people with disabilities and seniors with disabilities.
Matchmaking events will be organized "Draugs- näc draudzēsimies!", various sports activities, health consolidation event "Dzīvosim veselīgi", a two-day event will be organized to educate and engage people with functional disabilities, including seniors in various sports activities, discussion on healthy lifestyle, eating cooking. As well as organising the International White walking stick day event, a street event for drivers "Cilvēks ar balto spieķi", handwork exhibitions, seminars - emotional intelligence and universal design, as well as providing advice in the field of environmental accessibility.
An experience-sharing trip will be organised to build the capacity of employees and active members to gain knowledge of activities that of similar organisations. The co-financing of the project will also provide subsidised jobs for people with disabilities to be involved in the work environment, as well as transport services.
