Sauna for people with disabilities - environmental accessibility and planning
We are currently working on the construction of a sauna building of a total area of 192 square metres, which will be adapted to the needs of both people in wheelchairs and people with visual impairments. This building will feature a sauna, salt room, lounge and accommodation that will have the opportunity to stay overnight.
Accessibility of the environment
the 192 sq m sauna building will be built:
• respecting the principles of universal design so that it is accessible to people with visual impairments, people with reduced mobility and other illnesses;
• providing a safe, supportive, humane environment during a sauna visit;
• separately constructing a salt room and sauna, providing therapeutic effects to various diseases;
• by connecting the sauna building to the adjacent pond, so that both wheelchair-seated and other sauna-goers can easily access it and go swimming;
• ensuring social rehabilitation by giving people with disabilities the opportunity to enjoy the sauna tradition as a physiological and soulful improvement of common health, as well as opportunities to socialise with co-workers, gain joy and have valuable time off.
