In spring this year, the Liepaja society for the blind, in cooperation with the city local government of Liepaja, has started implementing the social inclusion project financed by the city local government of Liepaja “Let's learn and improve to integrate into society” (No. 156/2.8.5) with the aim of promoting access to social inclusion and social services in the Liepaja society for the blind for all persons living in Liepaja with functional disorders, including seniors.
During the project, the sustainability of activities taking place within the society and planned again will be maintained - operation of the day centre, transport services, subsidised workplaces, International White walking stick package, street promotion for drivers “man with White walking stick.” In addition to activities, educational seminars will be implemented on emotional intelligence for professionals working in the field of various services, consultations in the field of Universal Design, study tours and masterclasses for pupils, students and representatives of various institutions and organisations. Let us continue to provide assistance to people with disabilities and seniors.
A broad set of activities are planned for this year - an active day centre will be implemented, where every person with disabilities and their support persons, as well as seniors, are expected to get answers to questions of interest regarding social rehabilitation, housing, transport and living.
The head of the daily Centre, Inese Birzniece, calls for: “The Spring Sun is already welcoming us - so I would encourage every Member of the society to wake up from hibernation and engage in informative trips to the social rehabilitation and cognition centre “soul vault garden” in the Northup.”
In order for guests and participants involved in various projects to receive the best service and tourism product, a cycle of seminars and training will be organised for workers working in various employment projects, in which they will be presented with the specifics of the hospitality work.
Let us work hard to get everyone involved and find the jobs that integrate them. The “School of life” class cycle of the social inclusion course will continue, with small contact and support groups for people with disabilities, as well as seniors, having the opportunity to socialise, make friends and socialise by visiting different institutions and organisations, go for walks and take part in master classes.
Various measures will also be implemented at the society - “friend, come to congregation!”, the “be active and healthy” health strengthening event at the social rehabilitation and cognition centre in the rural environment, the soul vault garden, in the Northup, the Easter and Christmas event, the International White walking stick day event.
