In order to comply with all epidemiological safety regulations, we organized outdoor orientation – in the urban environment of Liepāja. Participants were divided into small teams so as not to crowd with each other, and each team had to perform different tasks related to each orientation route checkpoint

Starting at 10:00 p.m., we met at Liepāja's anthem character, “Laivenieks,” to explain the tasks, split up in to teams and begin an orientation route. The first task for each team was simple: to come up with a name, and they came together with interesting contributions -- “Pienenītes” “Goba,” “Trīs rozes” and “Šokolādes zefīri”

Experience of the orientation competitions

As they walked down the Kūrmajas Avenue, teams had to find and take notes of characters in Liepāja's anthem, which can be found on the way till the next checkpoint. At the last character of the anthem, each team had to recite a poem or sing a song about the sea. Next he had to go to the Swan pond, where he had to remember 10 puzzles about birds, it is actually not that simple, and no team could remember them all.

The next checkpoint was at the oldest fountain in Liepāja, located in Jūrmala Park, near Daugava Stadium. Here, each participant had to tell others some ridiculous or fun incident from childhood or school days.

One of the participants, Natālija, had an interesting memory: “I lived in Priekule and we were out hiking in 2nd grade and the teacher told everyone if we found anything from wartime, we shouldn't take it and carry it home, but I found a grenade and took it home with me, pounded it against the wall and when my father saw what I was doing he was terrified and took away the grenade.” It seems like a ridiculous incident now, but it's a good thing nothing bad happened. '

Aīda also shared some memories from her schooldays: “After the big storm, when trees were dumped in Jūrmala Park, I went with classmates from school with shovels to plant pine plants at tennis courts.”

The last checkpoint was at the end of Jūrmalas Street, where each team should have named as many streets as possible in Liepāja, which have changed names. The teams named 10 of the following streets in total:
•    Lielā street – Ļeņina street 
•    Ganību street – Suvorova street 
•    Kūrmājas Avenue – Padomju Avenue
•    Graudu street – Kārļa Marksa street
•    Bāriņu street – 17. jūnija street
•    E.Veidenbauma street – Rāmavas street 
•    Kungu street – I. Sudmaļa street
•    Krūmu street – Dadajeva street 
•    Ūliha street – Uzvaras street

We ended up going to the beach cafe Red Sun Buffet, where we sipped coffee or tea and ate a delicious piece of cake. We would like to thank the cafe's management and staff for their support, kind service and lovely atmosphere!
