Development and growth are promoted in the society for the blind of Liepāja
The Liepāja society for the blind is actively working to look after its fellow human beings. From March 1st of this year until 31st October 2024, “NVO fonds” project, financed by the Latvian State budget, will be implemented in the programme “Sadarbībā- top labo darbu augļi” 2023.LV/NVOF/MAC/012/38, the aim of which is to strengthen the capacity and performance of employees, volunteers of the Liepāja society for the blind bringing valuable development and growth of the organisation, ensuring quality services, and building team strength, because together, as a team, we can help each other more. During the project, we will also promote social responsibility, cooperation and solidarity, raising the quality of life for people with disabilities.
Various activities will be carried out during the project:
•Latvian sauna traditions and acquisition of basic skills for social rehabilitation and improvement of health for people with disabilities. Education for sauna visitors and volunteers through seminars “Emocionālā inteliģence kā instruments ar invaliditāti sociālai iekļaušanai sabiedrībā”.
•Promotion of active recreation for people with disabilities in the social rehabilitation and cognition centre “Dvēseles veldzes dārzs”, where interested people will be able to receive bathtub procedures, the possibility of relaxing in a hot tub, boating, and swimming in a pond.
•Informative excursions shall be organized at the social rehabilitation and cognition centre “Dvēseles veldzes dārzs” in Ziemupe, for two large target groups: For persons with disabilities (together with an assistant or caretaker), students of Liepāja Līvupes primary School – Development Centre, also together with a support person.
•We will hold a discussion with representatives from the state and local government “Sabiedrības veicināšana kopīgu mērķu sasniegšanai” and also “Sociālo pakalpojumu pieejamība cilvēkiem ar invaliditāti un viņu atbalstu personām”.
•We will strengthen the knowledge of staff and volunteers in the workshop “Kā strādāt ar bērniem un jauniešiem ar funkcionāliem traucējumiem”. We will also promote staff capacity in the cohesiveness event and the exchange of experience journey.
