Beach accessibility complex awaits beach visitors!
On our walking route along Liepāja Beach, we encountered the sand sculpture “Jūras māte” and visited Liepāja Beach Accessibility complex, whose activities and services were told to us by Kaspars, who works as an assistant for people with disabilities at the complex.
What does the Accessibility complex offer?
People with different types of disabilities and parents with children who want to enjoy our beach in a more comfortable and accessible way are invited here. 3 modules equipped with changing rooms, showers, amenities; the first module is additionally equipped with a surface to change diapers and a sofa to comfortably feed babies.
A beach assistant service is available for people with disabilities. Assistants help you use your inventory and go for a swim, such as bathing a person in the sea or simply spending time with them during a swim.
People with visual impairments can go swimming by wearing special wristbands that can activate an audiobuoy on the shore, which helps determine the direction of the coast through sound. The bracelet also alerts the assistant to the need for help.
The complex will work daily from noon, 11:00 - 19:00, until September 15th, so we encourage you to take advantage of these services and enjoy the beach in an accessible way!
